If one can
succeeded for the hydrolysis of human life ocean, sure to note
and find the presence of few significant, dedicated and larger
than life, human life drop lets and the analysis for the
origin and native land of such creative humanism followers is
bound to result with India at the leading position. The next
few lines are, a reference to life and works of one such
visionary personality from the Indian land with the specific
appeal for extending your, helping hand towards the
fulfillment of a vision.
India is country, where leprosy is still treated as not a
disease but a curse of God and punishment for the evil deeds
of the previous birth hence it is hard to believe
that a person grown up with such cultural heritage finding his
life dream not only in working for the leprosy patients but
also living with them to make them native of Anandwan - forest
of Joy. Yes, I am talking about the personality which is going
to turn 93 on the coming 26th December 2007. The name is
Murlidhar Devidas Amte, remains away from frequent news
headlines but famously known as Baba Amte. A person, who had
started, with his dream, at the age of 36 years with wife and
two young sons, to make the all rock - no water forest land of
50 acres to turn it into the Anandwan - the forest of joy for
the socially isolated leprosy patients. In his own words he
dares to dream it just because "A man can live without figures
but he cannot live without self-respect". The dream started
realization in 1951, about 5km away from Warora with the
nearest water availability at about the distance of 2 km. The
mission of serving the wounded humanity got underway with just
six leprosy patents from the Dattapur leprosy clinic. One of
most famous Hindi saying "Main Akela Hi Chala tha
Manzil-e-janib Log Aate Gaye Karavan Banta Gaya" [I was alone
to start the journey, people kept on joining at every
progressive step to make it a process] was started to get
shape of reality.
Today not only in
the Maharashtra or India but all over the world helping hands
are boosting the mission. Kolhapur is also not away
